Citt.ai Terms of Service — Patients

These terms apply if you use Citt.ai as a patient or client connected to a licensed therapist. Therapists and clinics should read the Terms for therapists.

Last updated: April 22, 2026

Summary

  • Citt.ai is an AI support tool, not a licensed therapist.
  • Patient use is limited to adults aged 18+ connected to a licensed therapist.
  • Citt.ai supports care between sessions but is not an emergency service.
  • Therapists remain responsible for clinical judgment and patient care.
  • Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

1. Overview and Scope

These Terms govern your access to and use of the Citt.ai website, applications, messaging integrations, and related services (collectively, the "Service") in your capacity as a patient or client. If you use Citt.ai through a therapist, clinic, or organisation agreement, that agreement may add additional requirements and will control over these Terms where there is a conflict.

Citt.ai is designed to support therapy workflows and between-session engagement. It does not provide independent medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Citt.ai. Patient use is allowed only as part of a relationship with a licensed therapist. We may request verification of age, licensure, or therapeutic relationship.

3. Account and Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at declan@citt.ai if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with the safety or crisis detection systems built into the platform.
  • Share your account credentials with others or allow unauthorized access.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the AI models or prompts.
  • Use the Service to generate, store, or transmit content that violates applicable law.

5. AI Features and Limitations

Citt.ai uses generative AI to provide supportive conversations and therapeutic exercises, create summaries, assist with assessments, and help your therapist prepare for care delivery. AI-generated output is not a substitute for professional clinical judgment or medical advice.

We take reasonable steps to improve quality and safety, but we cannot guarantee that every output will be accurate, complete, or suitable in every context. Your therapist is responsible for clinical decisions; you should follow their guidance and not rely on AI output as diagnosis or treatment on its own.

6. Crisis and Emergency Situations

Citt.ai includes crisis detection capabilities that flag messages indicating a risk of harm. If the system detects a crisis signal, it may pause the workflow, surface crisis resources, and notify your therapist or clinic.

Citt.ai is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, contact your local emergency services immediately.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, store, share, and retain your data.

You may exercise your data rights (access, export, erasure, consent withdrawal, or objection where applicable) through your account settings or by contacting declan@citt.ai.

8. Your Therapist's Responsibilities

Therapists using Citt.ai are responsible for maintaining their professional licensure, exercising independent clinical judgment, complying with applicable healthcare and privacy laws, and deciding how the Service is used in your care. Citt.ai supports but does not replace clinical decision-making.

9. Citt's Non-Clinical Role and Managed Records

Citt.ai is a software tool used by therapists to manage their practices and to support care between sessions. Citt.ai does not provide clinical services in its own name, does not employ therapists, and is not a healthcare provider, medical practice, or telehealth service. We do not enter into a clinician-patient relationship with any person who uses or appears in the Service.

A therapist using Citt.ai may create a record for you (a managed record) so they can run scheduling, notes, transcription, and billing for you inside Citt.ai before you have signed up for or accepted the patient-facing features of the Service. When a managed record exists and you have not yet claimed a patient account:

  • Your therapist (or their practice) and Citt.ai act as joint controllers for that record under Article 26 GDPR, as described in our Privacy Policy. Your therapist determines the clinical purpose; Citt.ai determines essential platform means (including hosting, AI infrastructure, safety tooling, sub-processors, and retention architecture) for the practice-management data involved.
  • Citt.ai is not contacting you on its own initiative, monitoring you between sessions, running crisis detection on your behalf, or providing you with patient-facing AI chat, check-ins, or assessments. Those features stay inactive until you accept a personal invitation from your therapist, set credentials, and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy directly.
  • Citt.ai does not assume any clinical duty to triage, escalate, or respond to messages, signals, or events relating to you while you have only a managed record. Your therapist's professional duty of care is unchanged and is not delegated to Citt.ai.
  • Where Citt.ai sends operational communications to you while you have only a managed record (for example, an appointment confirmation, an invoice, or the invitation to claim portal access), it does so in the context of the joint-controllership arrangement, and your therapist remains responsible for the clinical and lawful basis of that communication.

After you claim a Citt.ai account and accept these Terms, the patient-facing features (including the safety and crisis detection capabilities in section 6) apply as set out here. Citt.ai remains a software tool and is not an emergency service.

10. Billing and Subscriptions

Subscription pricing is set by your therapist or clinic. Payment is processed through Stripe or other disclosed payment providers. Cancellations, refunds, and disputes are subject to the policies communicated by your provider or plan. Data handling after cancellation is described in our Privacy Policy and may include limited retention where required for legal, safety, or care-record reasons.

11. Intellectual Property

All content, software, and technology comprising the Service is owned by or licensed to Citt.ai. Your conversational data remains yours. We do not claim ownership of the content you provide through the platform.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Citt.ai will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability can be limited, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service or close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached, if we are required to do so by law, or if continued access creates safety, security, or fraud risks. On termination, we will handle personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable retention obligations.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the platform or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

15. Governing Law

Unless a separate signed agreement says otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without regard to conflict of law rules, and the courts of Ireland will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer or healthcare laws that apply in your location.
